LW Measurements LVS Series platform scales was designed as a veterinary scale to weigh animals weighing up to 700 lb in 0.2 lb graduations.  This 700 lb capacity matched with remote indicator and large, low profile platform can be a very affordable bariatric scale for weighing larger individuals without spending $1000+.  There are particular drawbacks with going with the vet scale such as lack of handrails for support.  For this reason it is recommended more for personal use than in a hospital.

Doran DS7100

Doran's DS7100 bariatric scale features sturdy handrail to provide more stability for overweight individuals.  Its high weighing capacity makes it capable of weighing very large and obese patients with a resolution of 0.1 lbs.  Four weighing sensors in the large platform weigh up to 1,000 lbs quickly so as soon as the patient steps onto the scale, it begins displaying the weight. Bariatric weighing sometimes requires more than just a high capacity to weigh rather large and obese patients.  What if these individuals are confined to a wheelchair?  Seca 656 oversized platofrm scale will weigh oversized wheelchairs and even gurneys or stretchers.  It is ideal for hospital use since it is capable of accomodating all types of patients with different needs.  While there is no handrail on the Seca 656, patients that require more stability can simply be weighed in a wheelchair, or you can tare out another chair and have them seated on that while they are weighed.

Seca 984

Sometimes every single gram counts – especially in the intensive care unit, when treating patients with burns, in the dialysis unit and in old people’s and nursing homes. The digital bed scale seca 984 is an indispensable aid here as it facilitates the weighing of bed-ridden patients. In the case of patients who have to be taken care of in the dialysis unit, it must be avoided that the patient’s weight falls short of the value previously stipulated by the doctor treating the patient. This value can be individually programmed with the critical value function. An acoustic alarm then sounds reliably and immediately if the pre-set critical value is reached and the weight is too low.
